Puerto Rico does have Land use planning authorities, but they have not properly regulated growth and are severely lacking in a future vision for land use to accommodate their citizens, while preserving the ecological variety found on the island. So proper implementation and regulation of land uses would be extremely beneficial to Puerto Rico; some of these things would include: vertical construction, revitalization of already developed urban centers,

zoning regulations and the creation of a vision for future land use and conservation. To help establish some of these things it is vital that Puerto Rico use advancements in technology for continued monitoring to gain more knowledge and information about the ecosystems on the island as well to gain more insight on how their current actions are affecting the ecology of the island.
